What is Kambo?

Kambo is a traditional Amazonian practice using the secretion of the giant monkey frog, Phyllomedusa bicolor, native to the Amazon rainforest. The secretion is traditionally collected with care and without intentionally harming the frog.

For generations, Indigenous peoples of the Amazon, including the Matsés, Noke Koi, and Huni Kuin, have worked with Kambo as part of their traditional practices. It has long been associated with clearing what is often called panema—a sense of heaviness, stagnation, bad luck, or simply feeling out of alignment with yourself and with life.

Today, Kambo continues to be approached as a powerful traditional practice that deserves respect for the cultures and lineages it comes from.

I learned this work through direct training and apprenticeship in the Peruvian Amazon, and I carry it forward with deep respect for the people and traditions it comes from.

What happens in a session

I make a few small, shallow burns on the skin, called gates, and place tiny amounts of Kambo on them. Within minutes the body responds. Most people feel heat, a racing heart, flushing and swelling in the face, and then a strong purge, usually vomiting. The most intense part typically lasts 15 to 40 minutes. I stay with you the whole time.

Afterward we rest together, and I guide you through integration. Plan to take it easy for the rest of the day.

What people describe

Every Kambo experience is unique, and each person responds differently. After a session, people often describe feeling:

  • Lighter, as if something heavy has been cleared out

  • Clearer in their mind, and more present

  • More energy in the days that follow

  • A sense of reset, like starting fresh

  • More connected to their body and their own strength

Scientists have studied some of the compounds in Kambo in the lab, but Kambo isn't approved to diagnose, treat or cure any condition, and I don't offer it as medical treatment.

Is Kambo right for you?

Kambo is powerful, and it isn't for everyone. Heart conditions, certain medications, pregnancy and some other health conditions can make it unsafe. That's why every session starts with a careful screening. If it isn't right for you, I'll tell you honestly and suggest another way we can work together.
